Choosing the right flooring is a big decision; what is suitable in one room might not be suitable in another.
Your floor is by far one of the most used and abused parts of your home – dirty feet, muddy paws and furniture moving on a daily basis, your floor has to be capable of handling a lot of wear and tear!
3 things to consider when choosing the right floor covering for your living areas:
How durable does your floor need to be?
If you have pets, or children you may want to consider a floor that is going to stand some significant wear and tear. Not all flooring is wear resistant, for example hard wood floors can scratch and light coloured carpets can stain easily. You may want to consider a more wear friendly floor covering such as ceramic or porcelain tiles, stone, or dark carpet.
Is the floor in a high moisture living area?
If yes, for example a bathroom, you need to consider materials that are suitable for a moist environment such as concrete or tiles and make sure that the area is also suitably waterproofed!
Do you want a low maintenance floor?
Whilst carpet can feel nice under your feet, and hardwood floors look beautiful and classic, they can require more maintenance than tiles or vinyl flooring for example. Tiles are also hypoallergenic and long lasting.
